TallyHo donates it on the last day of every contest year (the first ends 30 September 2027), whether or not anyone has won: a guaranteed $1,000 for every year the prize goes unclaimed, increased by half of every course partner signed and half of every 50,000 TallyHo Today rounds played.
100 items qualify: 20 balls earned through secret objectives, 12 earned through daily streaks, 3 globes earned by playing 180, 270 and 365 days (in a row, or in total), 8 earned in the Challenge store, 11 score balls carried all the way to their highest tier, the 8 TallyHo Wild power balls, 31 trails (the 12 streak trails, the 3 globe trails, the 8 Challenge trails and the 8 Wild trails), and 7 task balls (The Recruiter, Messenger, Hat Trick, Pocket Pro, Wake-Up Call, Plus One and Ask Your Course). Some balls do not qualify and are marked that way in your collection: The Critic, because no prize should depend on writing a review, Course Scout, because no prize should depend on paying for a round, and the Collector's mysteries. None of the qualifying items can be bought with money. Wild balls and Wild trails cost Tickets, which are earned only by playing Wild, so the price is time and skill rather than cash. The catalog is frozen: items added later never extend the requirement. One requirement is not a ball: across your last 100 finished Today rounds, your average must be 2.5 strokes under par or better.
TallyHo Wild is the third daily mode. Three of its eight power balls are free from your first round. The other five cost 900, 1,500, 2,100, 2,400 and 2,700 Tickets, and each ball's trail costs between 400 and 1,200 Tickets more. A Ticket is earned for every 10 Wild points, counting your best round each day. All of it together is 15,500 Tickets, or 155,000 Wild points, earned at your own pace with no deadline. Wild runs in the free TallyHo app and requires an account, so completing the full Golden Ball set means playing in the app.
The highest streak ball needs 100 consecutive days of play, and the three globes go further: 180, 270 and 365 days. A globe counts your longest streak or your total days played, whichever is higher, so a lapse slows you down but never takes a globe away. Streak shields can buy back a lapse, and the recovery window grows with the streak: seven days for young runs, rising to three weeks for runs past 200 days. Past the window, the run resets to zero.
Each of the 11 score balls has four stages, reached at 5, 10, 15 and 25 rounds finishing at that exact score. All eleven must reach the final gold stage. This is the hardest requirement and the one that makes the Golden Ball a multi-year pursuit.
Following TallyHo on Instagram and TikTok is checked once, at the moment of claim. Anyone who completes everything without following gets 48 hours to fix it.
Every requirement is checked against play records on TallyHo's servers, and a completed claim is reviewed by a human, with the account's full history, before any prize is paid.
The fastest possible run is limited by the calendar, not by skill. One objective requires playing across all four real-world seasons, and the last globe alone takes 365 days of play. Carrying all eleven score balls to gold takes considerably longer than that. Treat this as a multi-year pursuit with no deadline: slower players are never eliminated, only later.

No. Nothing required for the Golden Ball can be bought with money. Some qualifying balls carry a price in Tickets or Challenge points, but both currencies are earned only by playing, never sold. A subscription does include play perks, like an extra daily replay, that can make a good scoring day come sooner, and every one of them will be listed in the official rules. Because the Golden Ball has no deadline, perks change pace, never eligibility: a free player has a full path to every requirement and is never eliminated, only later.
Your streak and your challenge points do, and they carry straight into the contest. The two families of balls that are unique to the Golden Ball, the secret objectives and the score balls, only start counting from opening day, so no one arrives with a head start and every player begins on the same line. The players set that date themselves by putting 100 signed-in players on the Daily leaderboard in a single day, which they did on 21 September 2026. Years, not days. One requirement spans all four real-world seasons, another needs a 100-day playing streak, and the hardest needs 25 rounds at each of eleven separate score levels. There is no deadline, so a slower player is never eliminated. This is designed as a long-term pursuit rather than a quick win.
They stay secret on purpose. Discovery is part of the game, so TallyHo publishes how many objectives there are and what completing them requires overall, but never the objectives themselves. Each one reveals a cryptic hint in the game when you tap it.
The environmental fund is donated anyway. It is a separate pot that never pays the winner. It starts each contest year at a guaranteed base, grows the same way the prize does, and is donated on the last day of every contest year whether or not anyone has won, then it starts again at the base. It does not pile up across years. In a year with no winner, players vote on which environmental charity receives it.
Two ways, both published, and both split evenly between the prize and the environmental fund. Every golf course that partners with TallyHo adds $25 to each. Every 50,000 TallyHo Today rounds played by signed-in players adds $25 to each. The fund itself never depends on anyone playing: TallyHo's annual donation is guaranteed either way, and these amounts only increase it. The community-funded part of the cash prize has a published maximum of $4,500; anything beyond it goes to the fund instead. A sponsor can add to the prize on top of that maximum, and when one has, the page says so and names them.
Anyone with a free TallyHo account, subject to the official rules. The full set includes the eight TallyHo Wild power balls, and Wild runs in the free TallyHo app for iOS and Android, so completing every requirement means playing in the app. The app is free and no purchase is ever required. Players under 18 need a parent or guardian's consent for both eligibility and payment. The contest is void where prohibited, and Quebec and Italy are excluded. The winner is responsible for their own taxes.
Progress is tracked on TallyHo's servers from the game's own play records, and the requirements are built so that knowing them is not a shortcut to completing them. Every completed claim is then reviewed by a person, with the account's full history, before any prize is paid, and a claim that does not stand up to that review is refused.
